Investments for the modernisation and construction of greenhouses and accessible shelters for plant production

Summary

The Intervention aims at achieving the objectives of Article 5 of Regulation (EU) 2021/2115. Specifically, the intervention enhances market orientation and increases the competitiveness of agricultural holdings in both the short and long term, including a stronger focus on research, technology, and digitalisation. At the same time, it contributes to climate change mitigation and adaptation, including through the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the enhancement of carbon sequestration, as well as the promotion of sustainable energy.

In addition, the Intervention contributes towards the following objectives:

  1. Improving the economic efficiency of agricultural holdings and facilitating the restructuring and modernisation of plant production in order to increase market participation and orientation by shifting to higher value-added crops and reducing production costs.
  2. Enhancing the competitiveness of sustainable Greek agricultural holdings by increasing investment in greenhouse facilities aimed at boosting the overall productivity of the holding (capital, labour and land productivity).
  3. Improving the competitiveness of sustainable Greek agricultural holdings by supporting investments in automation, digitalisation and the implementation of precision agriculture systems.
  4. Establishing agricultural holdings with the goal of modernising vegetable cultivation while shifting to higher value-added cultivation practices by increasing the productivity of the cultivation method and reducing input use.

The intervention is being implemented throughout Greece and provides support to agricultural holdings owned by natural persons, legal entities and collective structures with registered offices in Greece. The support is for investments in the production of agricultural products in greenhouses and other accessible shelters for plant production, under the terms, conditions and limitations of the regulatory framework.
